Bone cyst
Overview
Symptoms of a bone cyst can include pain, swelling, a lump, numbness, tingling or a fracture. Sometimes they do not cause any symptoms.
Bone cysts do not always need treatment. If they're causing problems they can be treated with surgery.
Recovering from treatment for a bone cyst usually takes a few months. You'll have regular X-rays to check it's getting better and has not come back.
It's not known exactly why bone cysts happen. They may be caused by fluid not draining properly or problems with the blood vessels in a bone.
