Dehydration

Overview

Open all pages about Dehydration

Symptoms of dehydration include feeling thirsty and dark yellow pee. Signs to look out for in babies include few or no tears and less wet nappies.

Things that can make you dehydrated include being sick, having diarrhoea, sweating a lot after exercising and being in the sun too long.

Dehydration can be treated using oral rehydration solutions from a pharmacy. These are powders that you mix with water and then drink.

Drinking fluids, such as a water and squash, regularly can reduce the risk of dehydration. You should drink enough so your pee is a pale clear colour.

Dehydration is when your body loses more fluid than you take in. If it’s not treated, it can get worse and become a serious problem.
