The main symptom of a cluster headache is severe pain on 1 side of the head, often around the eye. They may start quickly and make you feel restless.
There’s no test to diagnose cluster headaches. The GP will ask about your symptoms and you may need a brain scan to rule out other conditions.
Treatment for cluster headaches can include medicine, oxygen therapies and mild electrical current pain relief.
The cause of cluster headaches is unknown. They're more common in men in their 30s and 40s, or if you have a close family member who gets them.
