Pityriasis rosea
Overview
The main sign of pityriasis rosea is a round scaly patch followed by a widespread spotty rash on the chest, back, arms or legs.
Pityriasis rosea usually goes away on its own and does not need treatment. If it's uncomfortable, you might need a cream or antihistamine tablets.
The exact cause of pityriasis rosea is not known, but it may be caused by a virus. It cannot spread from person to person.
