Scars

Overview

Open all pages about Scars

You can help a scar heal by massaging it a few times a day with a water-based cream and protecting it from the sun with a high factor sunscreen.

Depending on the type of scar you have, treatments include silicone dressings or gels, steroid injections or cream, laser therapy or cryotherapy.

There are different types of scars, including fine-line, atrophic, keloid, hypertrophic and contracture scars.

A scar is a mark on the skin after a wound or injury has healed. You cannot get rid of a scar, but most scars will fade over time.
