Night sweats
Overview
Treatment is not usually needed for night sweats. But if medicine you’re taking may be causing night sweats, your GP may prescribe a different one.
Common causes of night sweats include the menopause, anxiety, medicines, low blood sugar, alcohol or drug use, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
It’s normal to sweat at night if you get too hot. But sweating a lot could be a sign of a problem your GP should check.
