Open all pages about Vaginal discharge

Vaginal discharge is usually clear and does not have a strong smell. You might have an infection if your usual discharge changes appearance or smell.

Common causes of unusual vaginal discharge include bacterial vaginosis, thrush and sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia.

If you have a lot of vaginal discharge, washing the skin around your vagina gently with water can help to avoid irritation.
