Itchy bottom

Overview

Open all pages about Itchy bottom

To ease an itchy bottom, it may help to have cool showers or baths, wash and dry your bottom (anus) after pooing and wear loose cotton underwear.

Treatment for an itchy bottom depends on the cause. A GP can prescribe medicines, creams or ointments that may help.

An itchy bottom does not always have a clear cause. Possible causes include sweating a lot in hot weather, threadworms, piles or diarrhoea.

An itchy bottom is not usually a sign of anything serious. But get medical help if it does not get better in a few days.
