Phlebitis (superficial thrombophlebitis)Overview
Phlebitis is inflammation of a vein. An inflamed vein near the surface of the skin caused by a blood clot is known as superficial thrombophlebitis.
The main symptoms of phlebitis are painful lumps under the skin and skin redness.
There are things you can do to ease symptoms of phlebitis, such as raising the affected area, keeping active to help blood flow, and taking ibuprofen.
