Skin tags

Overview

Open all pages about Skin tags

Skin tags are small growths on your skin. They grow on the neck, eyelids or in folds in the skin. They are not usually painful or harmful.

Skin tags can be removed by cosmetic surgery treatments using either heat, freezing or surgery. They're not usually removed on the NHS.

Anyone can get skin tags but they're more likely if you're older, living with obesity, or have type 2 diabetes.

Skin tags are flesh-coloured growths that usually appear where there is a skin fold or crease. They do not need to be removed and are often harmless.
