Lumps

Overview

Open all pages about Lumps

Lumps and growths on the skin can be soft or hard to touch. Some can move around and they can vary in size.

A GP may be able to tell what's causing your lump. You might need an ultrasound scan or a biopsy (where a small sample of the lump is tested).

There are lots of possible causes of lumps and growths, including skin tags, lipomas, cysts and abscesses.

Most lumps are harmless but it's important to see a GP if you're worried or the lump is still there after 2 weeks.
