Blood in your semen can be red, pink or brown. Sometimes you might also have other symptoms such as blood in your pee or pain when peeing.

Often, it’s not obvious what causes blood in semen. Causes can include a sexually transmitted infection, a recent procedure or an enlarged prostate.

Most of the time blood in semen goes away without treatment in a few weeks. Sometimes the cause may be treated, such as antibiotics for an infection.

Blood in semen is not usually caused by something serious, but you should get it checked by a GP just in case.
